Context
After days of reports that Grok's image editing was undressing real people on X, including minors in revealing clothing, Musk posted this denial and added that Grok does not generate images spontaneously, only on user request. The missing 'am' is in the post as quoted by CleanTechnica and embedded by Decrypt.
Crowd reaction
Widespread criticism
CleanTechnica wrote that Musk 'deflect[ed] with a narrow but truthful statement while completely failing to address (or understand) the issue', since the complaint was about minors in swimwear and underwear. Decrypt reports the Center for Countering Digital Hate estimating about 23,338 sexualized images of children in 11 days, and its chief calling Grok 'an industrial-scale machine for the production of sexual abuse material'. Much of the outrage targets Grok's output rather than the denial.
